Mayor's recent comments insulting to all Dems

Many of you reading this don't know me; many never will. Yet just like many of you, I'm a target of the current mayor.

Why, you may ask? Simply stated, because I'm a Democrat. To make matters worse. I hold an MBA from Georgian Court University as well. This double whammy has me insulted in every local newspaper I read.

As a 25-year resident of Brick, I go about my business of raising a family in a town I loved so much as a child that I returned here to raise my own family. Unfortunately, the town seems to be changing.

Mr. Stephen Acropolis needs to stop with the generalizations he makes about Democrats. I may be a Democrat, but you are my mayor, too! I really feel that this town is being divided more than ever.

As an educated woman, I know Mayor Acropolis was not specifically referring to me when he stated, "I know it seems foreign to Democrats that you should answer residents' questions." However, I am a Democrat and am perfectly capable of comprehending the fact that government officials are supposed to answer to the people.

It is my opinion that Mayor Acropolis doesn't actually believe this, or he wouldn't have had such an issue with answering to the people about the community center. In no way am I saying I was opposed to the center, but I do feel that residents should have the ability to make an informed decision. Why is that so wrong?

Mr. Acropolis, please keep in mind you are not the mayor solely of Republicans, but of all the people of the town. As such, perhaps you should stop with all the insults to those who are not a member of your chosen political party.
