      Civil War encampment to be held Aug. 9, 10
            For the fourth year, the Brick Township Historical Society will host the 61st New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment all day Aug. 9 and until noon Aug. 10 at the Havens Homestead Museum, 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick. The Civil War regiment will have an encampment ona the property and will demonstrate drills and the firing and loading of rifles and other equipment.

      Pizza parlors raise dough for local girl
            Two local pizza parlors will be holding a fundraiser for 4-year-old Avery Lubrecht of Brick., who is being treated for medulla blastoma, a form of brain cancer that attached itself to the brain stem. Mention Avery's name from Aug. 4-Aug. 11 at Federico's Pizza on Route 88 in Brick and on Bay Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach.

      BCCT to present a performance of 'Godspell'
            The Brick Children's Community Theater (BCCT) will present a performance of "Godspell" at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1, 2, 8, 9 and at 3 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, students and children. Group rates are also available. All seats are reserved.

      Animal center to sponsor dog washes this summer
            The Jersey Shore Animal Center (JSAC), 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, is sponsoring a dog wash from noon to 3 p.m. on Aug. 9, 10, Sept. 13 and 14. No appointment is necessary.
