      Alzheimer support group to meet once a month
            An Alzheimer support group, led by Joanne Prospero, meets every fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Worthington Assisted Living facility, 458 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick. It's open to anyone from the community who feels a need to share their experience or learn from others.

      Training to be provided for crisis hotline
            CONTACT of Ocean County, a 24-hour crisis intervention hotline, will offer training for volunteers from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 13 weeks beginning Sept. 16 in the Brick area.       Annual peach festival to be held Aug. 22
            Central United Methodist Church, 729 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, will hold its annual peach festival 4-7 p.m. Aug. 22 in the church hall. The event will feature homemade desserts. Peach pies will also be available for sale and can be ordered ahead by calling 732-892-3233.

      Blood drive to be held Aug. 24, 29
            A blood drive will be held Aug. 24 and 29 at the Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Representatives from Central Jersey Blood Center will be on hand to collect donations from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors must present photo or signed ID, must be at least age 17, be in good health and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.       Western dance fundraiser to be held for JSAC
            The Toms River Elks will host a western dance fundraiser for the Jersey Shore Animal Center (JSAC) from 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 20 at 600 Washington St., Toms River.       Brick VFW will host picnic for Labor Day
            Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8867, Brick, will host a Labor Day picnic from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 31 at the post's picnic grove at 373 Adamston Road, Brick. All proceeds will directly benefit military veterans and their families. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate, $12 for ages 11-18, and free for children under age 10.
