FBI offers reward for info in bank robbery

BRICK TOWNSHIP — Police are searching for a young Hispanic man in connection with the recent robbery of the Commerce Bank on Burnt Tavern Road

The man allegedly entered the bank at 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 19 and handed the teller a note demanding money, police said.

He left the bank after he was given the money and fled the area on a bicycle east on Burnt Tavern Road, according to police.

The police department's K-9 unit tracked the suspect east on Burnt Tavern Road to Maple Avenue. The K-9 search ended at 4:30 p.m, in the South Lake Drive area.

The suspect was described as between 25 to 30 years old, with a thin build. He was wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt with writing across the front, dark-colored pants and a baseball cap with a logo on the front.

Anyone with any information should call Brick Detective William Ruocco in the detective bureau at 732-262-1120, or the FBI's Red Bank office at 732-741-0006. The FBI is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Ruocco was assisted at the scene by Brick patrolmen John Turrin, Joseph Doyle, Robert Scelfo, members of the Brick Police Emergency Response Team, the Brick Police K-9 Unit and special agents from the FBI's Red Bank office.
