Dottie's House to host inaugural triathlon

Dottie's House will be holding its first triathlon on Oct. 12 at Island Beach State Park, Seaside Park. The last triathlon held at this venue was over 12 years ago.

The event will raise money for domestic violence survivors. A duathlon will also be offered for nonswimmers.

Reduced rates apply to early registrants and groups. If registered before Sept. 12, the triathlon fee is $60 and the duathlon fee is $50. Triathlon three-member teams are $90; duathlon two-member teams are $60.

Dottie's House, a 17-unit apartment facility, provides housing and support services along with a training program to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. This nonprofit transitional housing program is designed to empower these women to gain emotional and financial independence and break the generational cycle of domestic violence.
