Christmas tours of museum to be offered

The Brick Township Historical Society is planning an old-fashioned country theme for this year's Christmas tours of its Havens Homestead Museum, located at 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick.

The tours will be offered 6-9 p.m. Dec. 12 and noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 14. Members of the society, Janet Nielsen and Peggy Voss, have been handcrafting decorations the past year to showcase the building to depict a farmhouse in the 1850s.

Apple dolls, barnyard items, braided wreaths, candles, mittens and sheep will be adorning the tree and the homestead. In addition, there will be entertainment and refreshments, and the Lizzie Herbert gift shop will be open. On the property there is a barn with displays for viewing and a shed housing a 100 year-old cranberry sorter.

Admission is $5 for adults and children under twelve are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information on the activities of the Brick Township Historical Society, call 732-785-2500 or go to www.bricktwphistoricalsociety.com.
