      Reader takes issue with recent letter writer
            This is in response to the Brick Bulletin letter dated Dec. 11, 2008, regarding Brick officials. I have attended several council meetings this year and watched some on television. The writer wrote that the former mayor wanted the Foodtown site for a community center.

            It is always a wonderful feeling for both young and old to look at all the Christmas lights at night and the festive flags and ornaments during the day. The effort to make our homes look so beautiful is undoubtedly appreciated.

      Solutions for today's challenges
            There is one great patriotic thing that Congress can do to help jump-start the American economy. Every congressman can go out and buy an American car. My pet peeve is American politicians riding in foreign cars on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and Veterans Day parades.
