Mayor begins cutting unnecessary positions
Organizational chart to be revamped

      Little more than two months into his administration, Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis estimates he has already trimmed $500,000 in salary costs from the Brick Township payroll. And he's not finished yet. The cuts so far have come primarily in the form of retirements, he said.

Former public works director to face judge on Feb.1
Sentencing to take place after many postponements

      One more time. Former Public Works Director John H. Nydam's Jan. 11 sentencing date didn't come off last week. It was the sixth postponement of the former township employee's sentence. But Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor William H. Porter doesn't anticipate any more postponements.

Brick official objecting to possible Dimilin use
Jackson mayor, council ponder ways to battle gypsy moth infestation

      JACKSON - A Brick Township councilwoman is asking Jackson officials not to use the pesticide Dimilin to kill gypsy moths. Some Jackson officials have indicated in recent weeks that the use of Dimilin is a possibility as they seek to head off another year of property damage caused by gypsy moths.

Save Barnegat Bay to Brick: See you in court

      BRICK TOWNSHIP - Save Barnegat Bay has filed suit against the township over the planned redevelopment of Traders Cove Marina. Copies of the lawsuit were not available to the Bulletin by press time on Monday night. Mayor Stephen C.Acropolis said he was not surprised the lawsuit was filed.

Mayor appoints 2 men to newly created jobs
