Suspect sought in Maple Leaf Park stabbing
BY PATRICIA A. MILLER Staff Writer

Jeady Omar Bullard
BRICK TOWNSHIP - Police are still searching for a township man identified as a suspect in a stabbing at the Maple Leaf Park condominiums recently.

An arrest warrant was issued last week for Jeady O. Bullard, 26, Sawmill Road. Bullard is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a medium build, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, police said.

Bullard has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. His bail has been set at $100,000, with no 10 percent option, police said.

He had not been apprehended by the time the Bulletin went to press on Monday night.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 11 a.m. April 9 in front of 190 Sawmill Road in the Herbertsville section of the township, police said.

A neighbor called 911 to alert police, Capt. John E. Rein Jr. said.

"He heard yelling at the door, saw him bleeding and running back into the house," Rein said.

Police found Elliott Starks, 23, Sawmill Road, bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Stark was stabbed once in the upper right arm and once in the upper left chest area.

The stab wound in his arm went all the way through the limb, Rein said.

The weapon has not been recovered, but based on Starks' wounds, it appeared to be some type of knife, police said.

"There was very little crime scene," Rein said. "He got stabbed outside and immediately went back into the house."

Starks had been baby-sitting for his girlfriend's 6-yearold son at the time of the incident. The boy was not harmed, Rein said.

Starks was treated on the scene by Brick Township Police, EMS and MONOC paramedics. He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he was listed in stable condition.

The two men appeared to have known each other, Rein said.

"They had some kind of dispute, maybe over a mutual friend or girlfriend," he said.

Anyone with any information on Bullard's whereabouts should contact Detective Michael Bevaqua of the police department's investigative division at 732-262-1120, or the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1150.

Bullard may be driving a 2002 red Lincoln Navigator - license plate number WEA 79C, or a 2000 silver Chrysler Sebring - license plate VTX 72N, police said.
