Breast Cancer Awareness Day planned May 18

LAKEWOOD - The Lakewood Blue- Claws have teamed up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central and South Jersey to host Breast Cancer Awareness Day, presented by Molly Maid, May 18, at FirstEnergy Park, 2 Stadium Way. The event will not only benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but it will also provide valuable information for women of all ages.

To help build awareness, the Blue- Claws team members will be wearing pink jerseys for their 1:05 p.m. contest against the West Virginia Power. Following the game, the worn jerseys will be sold in a live auction with the proceeds going to Komen.

The first 2,000 female fans of all ages that attend will receive a special pink BlueClaws hat, presented by Molly Maid. There will also be a pre-game walk around the field featuring local breast cancer survivors.

"This will be the first Breast Cancer Awareness Day at FirstEnergy Park," BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown said. "We think this will be a tremendous opportunity to raise money for a terrific cause and help inform women throughout the Jersey Shore on how to stay healthy. Komen has been doing good for a long, long time and we are proud to partner with them for this event."

Tickets for the game are available now, on the Internet, at the FirstEnergy Park ticket office, or over the phone. Details: (732) 901-7000, option 2.
