Donations are needed in blood supply

New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) will conduct a blood drive 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave. Toms River.

With area hospitals experiencing a 15 percent deficit in their blood supply, NJBS is urging all eligible persons to donate today.

Hospitals serviced by NJBS are in special need of Rh-negative red cells (Types O, A and B-negative).

Qualified donors should be 17 years of age, weigh 100 pounds and be in generally good health. Donors must present a photo or signed identification and know their Social Security number. Donors over 75 years of age can keep donating with a physician's note.

To make an appointment, call 800-933- 2566.
