Search for Warren Wolf's replacement has begun

      BY WAYNE WITKOWSKI Staff Writer

Brick Township began its arduous process of seeking only its second football coach in its 51-year history when it posted the position early last week to accept applications.

Warren Wolf, who retired on Dec. 1 at age 81 as the state's all-time winning coach with 361 victories, 25 conference championships and 13 state sectional titles, was honored early in the month by Brick township's council with three proclamations for his legacy of success.

"We'll gather résumés and decide how many coaches to interview," said Athletic Director Rick Handchen. "I expect a large number of applicants. We want to get moving on this as soon as possible to get the weight program going."

Handchen said the interview phase will begin in early February. In the meantime, assistant coach and strength coach Len Zdanowicz has been handling the day-today off-season work in the weight room and conditioning programs. The team last June also had a one-week workout session.
