Two suspects make off with $4,500 in pizza robbery BRICK TOWNSHIP — Police are looking for two men in connection with the armed robbery of a Pasquale's Pizza employee as he was leaving with the night deposits, Capt. John E. Rein Jr. said. Employee John Andreassen had just left the restaurant in Drum Point Plaza with two bank deposit bags after closing up for the night at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, Rein said. He was confronted by the two men after he had put the bags and some food items in the trunk of his 2007 Corvette. One man, described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing blue jeans and a red bandanna covering his nose and mouth, was carrying a handgun, police said. Andreassen popped the trunk of his car and the second man grabbed the deposit bags. The first suspect then struck him on the back of the head with the butt of the handgun, Rein said. The two men then ran across the street to a wooded area across from the Police Athletic Building on Drum Point Road. Andreassen followed them to the building in his car and saw a car drive off into the Cedar Park area, Rein said. Andreassen then returned to the restaurant and called police. He refused first aid treatment, police said. The second suspect was described as thin, about 6 feet tall, wearing black jeans, a black hooded sweater and a black bandanna over his nose and mouth, Rein said. The police K-9 unit tracked the area but were unable to come up with anything, Rein said. Anyone with any information about the incident should call Brick Detective Daniel Waleski at 732-262-1170 or 732-262-1120. |
