"They were phenomenal. I've talked over and over about our depth and if this isn't an indication, I don't know what is," said coach David Thompson. "These scores would beat most of our varsity scores and of the varsity scores of a lot of teams out there." As for the boys, Brick Memorial finished second to Manchester behind Robert Sirks and Tom Norris. Matt Fenley of Brick Township had the second highest series, a 663 that was eight pins off first place. He had the high game for the boys, a 258, in his opening game, followed by a 215 and a 190. Brick Township's varsity, meanwhile, faces a big week as it is in third place in Shore Conference A South, four games behind Toms River North, whom they play on Thursday, with four games left on the schedule. The top two teams make the Shore Conference Tournament. Brick Memorial strengthened its hold on first place early last week with a 2-1 victory over Brick Township, which got a 709 series from John Boor. Brick Township plays Lakewood on Friday. Brick Memorial's girls need to sweep the rest of the way to stay in the running for one of the top two conference spots. With four matches left, the team is in third place and has 12 losses behind Manchester, which has three losses, and Brick Township, which has eight. The Mustangs took on Manchester on Tuesday and have matches left against Toms River North, Toms River East and Lakewood. |
