      Brick Garden Club to meet Feb. 9
            The Brick Township Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Cultural Arts Center, Herbertsville Road, Brick. Lee Crisci, president, will conduct a short business meeting to discuss upcoming events and trips for the club. The committees for the annual garden tour will also give reports.

      Dottie's House to hold gala Feb. 5
            Friends of Dottie's House will host its second annual "Have a Heart for Dottie's House" gala at the Spring Lake Manor, Spring Lake Heights, at 6 p.m. Feb. 5. This year's gala will honor John K. Lloyd, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Meridian Health.

      Marching Dragons to host bowling night
            The Brick Township High School Marching Dragons Caravan is holding a bowling night fundraiser 9 to 11 p.m. Feb. 15 at Ocean Lanes, 2085 Lanes Mill Road, Lakewood. The $20 per person fee includes two hours of open bowling (up to five people per lane), shoe rental and two slices of pizza and soda. There will be a gift auction and door prizes.

      'Winter Wonderland' skating event Feb. 7
            Save Barnegat Bay (SBB) is hosting a "Winter Wonderland" at Winding River Park Ice Rink, Toms River, 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 7. The public is invited to meet the staff and leaders of SBB. There will also be a bake sale. The cost will be $12 for adults and $8 for children age 13 and under. Skate rental is $4. All proceeds will benefit SBB.

      Football scholarships to be awarded
            The Brick Township Junior Sports League will once again award The Anthony F. Mancino Memorial Scholarships to eligible Brick Township High School football players who will graduate in 2009, based upon academics and need. Tony Mancino was a football player on three Brick Township High School state championship teams in the 1960s.

      See 'Annie Get Your Gun' in Ocean Grove
            The Guild Theatreworks Inc., of Brick, will present "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Jersey Shore Arts Center at 8 p.m. Feb. 27, 28 and March 6 and at 3 p.m. March 8. The musical is based on the life of sharpshooter Annie Oakley who appeared in the actual "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" show.

      Free trees offered to celebrate Arbor Day
            The New Jersey Tree Foundation is offering free 2-year-old trees (1 to 2 inches tall) to celebrate Arbor Day 2009 in New Jersey. Schools, local governments, tree groups, nonprofit organizations, Scout groups, and any volunteer organization may apply for the free trees. All planting must occur on public lands, be done by volunteers and maintained for two years.

      Dogs, cats should be licensed in January
            All Brick Township dogs and cats, 7 months or older, must be licensed during the month of January for the 2009 year. A certificate of rabies vaccination must be presented and must be current through November 2009 for a one-year license, or November 2011 for a three-year license.

      Brick Township Police Dept. Drug Hotline
            The Brick Township Police Department provides a "Drug Hotline" for citizens to report drug-related activity. The hotline was established as a means of providing the public with the opportunity to anonymously report drug activities in their neighborhood. It is answered and monitored by detectives assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit. Messages are checked on a daily basis.

      OCC to offer NJ Stars information program
            Ocean County College will hold an NJ Stars information session 6 p.m. Feb. 18. The statewide program provides students in the top 15 percent of their graduating class the opportunity to attend a New Jersey community college for the first two years for free. In order to continue in the program, students must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
