      The United Way of Ocean County will hold its Winter Gala Ball on Feb. 27 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Lakewood This year's recipient of the Community Caring Award will be the employees of Exelon Oyster Creek, who raised a recordbreaking $275,000 to support the programs of United Way of Ocean County.

Volunteers needed at Kensington Manor
      Kensington Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a 226-bed long-term care and short-term rehabilitation facility in Toms River, is requesting dedicated volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks including resident and patient visits. Volunteers are needed during evening hours and on the weekend. All volunteers will be asked to participate in a brief education program.

Snowman photo contest is under way
      A snowman photo contest is being conducted by the Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department. Awards will be given for the most original and best traditional snowman. A children's division for youngsters under age 5 will be included this year. All snowmen must be built during this winter season. Entry deadline is March 31.

See 'Annie Get Your Gun' in Ocean Grove
      The Guild Theatreworks Inc., of Brick, will present "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Jersey Shore Arts Center at 8 p.m. Feb. 27, 28 and March 6 and at 3 p.m. March 8. The musical is based on the life of sharpshooter Annie Oakley who appeared in the actual "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" show.
