Become a substitute teacher in two days

The Department of School Relations at Ocean County College (OCC) is offering a two-day substitute teacher training workshop in March.

The course will be offered from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 13 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 14 in Room 017/Library, Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River. The Registration Deadline is March 6.

The 15-hour training seminar helps prospective substitute teachers prepare for a smooth entrance into the classroom.

To qualify to become a substitute teacher, candidates must hold a minimum of 60 college credits (official transcript), successfully undergo a criminal background check, and provide evidence of a negative Mantoux test.

The cost to attend is $175. Textbooks can be purchased (approximately $10) at OCC bookstore prior to first session. Details: 732-255-0477.
