      Honor veterans with a 'shout out'
            Do you know a veteran? Well, you can get that vet recognized on air through "Veterans' Shout Out," a Greater Media radio program. Carl Craft and Marty Martinez, hosts of the WRAT's morning show are honoring our country's veterans on the WRAT (95.9-FM), between 6 and 10 a.m., Monday through Friday.

            The Mothers Center of the Jersey Shore will hold its 17th annual gift auction at 5:30 p.m. March 26 at the Ramada Inn in Toms River. Tickets are $30 and include dinner, dessert, soft drinks, door prizes and one ticket for the grand prize. Tables for up to 12 people can be reserved.

      Church to host Feb. 28 wine tasting, auction
            The Church of the Visitation, Brick, will host a wine tasting and art auction at 6 p.m. Feb. 28. More than 50 sommelier-selected wines from around the world will be available for sampling as well as hors d'oeuvres from local merchants. A selection from Wine Spectator magazine's top 100 wines will be poured while the art collection is viewed.

      See 'Annie Get Your Gun' in Ocean Grove
            The Guild Theatreworks Inc., of Brick, will present "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Jersey Shore Arts Center at 8 p.m. Feb. 27, 28 and March 6 and at 3 p.m. March 8. The musical is based on the life of sharpshooter Annie Oakley who appeared in the actual "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" show.

      United Way to fund EITC through a grant
            United Way of Ocean County is funding a free income tax preparation program called Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) through a grant to encourage financial stability. Through EITC, individuals with a low income can receive up to $4,800 from the federal government and up to $1,000 from the state.

            The National Council on Aging (NCOA) has implemented a U.S. Department of Labor grant to train adults, ages 55 years and older, in high-growth healthcare occupations. NCOA has joined forces with Ocean County College's Department of Continuing and Professional Education to offer a variety of noncredit certificate courses that train older adults to reenter the job market.
