      Sholty vs. Heimbuch: Round II
            For as long as I can remember, the residents of Brick have been reading letters from Art Sholty via the "Opinion" section of the Brick Bulletin. As time goes by, his letters make me chuckle more and more because of his outlandish opinions and offthe wall political statements.

      Two adversaries agree on one topic of discussion
            Ihave never met frequent letter writer Art Sholty, nor would I know him if he was standing next to me at a checkout line, but we have often been adversaries expressing opposing positions on local issues in letters to the editor.

      Make English the national language, reader says
            Ithought it would be a cold day in hell that I would ever agree with Art Sholty, but that day has come. I am referring to his letter (A Rebuttal to a Rebuttal) in the Feb. 12 Brick Bulletin. His response was to a Mr. Jeff Heimbuch about English being the language spoken here in the United States. Well, Mr. Heimbuch, all I can say is learn the language.

      State neglect of Island Beach makes no sense
            It is a sad fact concerning Island Beach and other New Jersey state parks that in flush economic times their funding is sparse and in difficult times they get cut to the bone. Ironically, when the budgetary knife comes out, the first program to be sacrificed is the one most important to the future of the park and of society, Nature Interpretation.

      Business owners laud mayor for his help
            We wanted to thank Mayor Stephen Acropolis of Brick for restoring our faith in public officials. Our story began when my brother and I followed a dream of opening our own business in our hometown. We never realized all of the challenges we would face trying to get our place of business inspected and approved.
