            Not many high school athletes play on three championship teams in the same school year. Brian Staub faces that unique possibility. The starting quarterback on the Brick Memorial High School football team that won the NJSIAA Group IV Central Jersey championship also played on the basketball team that won its third Shore Conference A South championship in five years.

            BRICK TOWNSHIP — It didn't take Jordan Marsch of Brick long to shake off a year away from competitive baseball. Marsch highlighted a tremendous week as the starting left fielder for Rowan University's baseball team by hammering two home runs, including a grand slam home run in the first inning.

      Three under consideration as Wolf's replacement
            Three candidates remain in the running for the Brick Township football coaching position to succeed retired legendary coach Warren Wolf. They will be interviewed by Board of Education members next week. The candidates include one coach who has been on the school's coaching staff, according to a source.

            Brick Memorial High School's just completed Shore Conference A South championship boys basketball season continues to reap awards. The Mustangs' Ed Sarluca, selected as the A South Coach of the Year, was named coach of the Ocean team playing against Monmouth at Freehold Township March 23. Matt O'Brien, who led Brick Memorial with 15.

      Girls high school softball coaches gearing up for new season
            Two new head softball coaches are bringing new optimism to the two township high schools. "It's not bad," Brick Memorial High School's Dave Shilanskas said after his team beat Rumson, 8-2, in its first scrimmage Saturday. Shilanskas, a former assistant at Brick Memorial, succeeds Vin Dallicardillo.

            The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) men's basketball team junior co-captain Jay Frank of Brick was named to the NABCA Atlantic All-District Team All- Star Second Team. Frank also was selected New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Star First Team at guard.
