Learn about organ donation April 6

The Toms River Library, 101 Washington St., Toms River, will host a program on organ donation at 7 p.m. April 6.

The program will explain how organ transplants save thousands of lives each year and that there are still thousands of people in New Jersey and across the nation who are in need of transplants.

Transplant organizations report that there is a shortage because many people do not declare their wishes properly to donate their organs.

The program will focus on the lives of people who have been saved by organ donors. An exhibit of memorial quilts will be on display that evening and throughout April, which is Organ Donor Awareness month. Presenters will also explain the medical science behind the procedure.
