            Ocean County College's Interpreter Training Program Sign Language Club will host an American Sign Language rock 'n' roll fundraiser show 7 p.m. May 2 at Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. American Sign Language, deaf culture, and music will be the focus of the evening. Some songs will include adult content.

      Registration is open for 'Spotlight on Lyme'
            The second annual "Spotlight on Lyme" 5K run and walk to promote awareness of Lyme disease will be held May 17 at Pier Village, Long Branch, during National Lyme Disease Awareness Month. The fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children age 13 and younger, before April 17, and $30 and $20, respectively, thereafter.

      Library to close for Good Friday, Easter
            All branches of the Ocean County Library will close April 10 in observance of Good Friday and will hold normal branch hours on April 11. In observance of the Easter holiday, all branches will close April 12 and will resume normal branch hours on April 13.       Knights to host trip to see 'Jersey Boys'
            The Knight's of Columbus Council No. 836 is hosting a Sept. 16 trip to see "Jersey Boys" at the August Wilson Theater in New York City. The trip will include round-trip deluxe motor coach transportation, orchestra seats for the 2 p.m. matinee and dinner at Forlini's Restaurant in New York City.             The Ocean County Bar Association's 5K Run/Walk to benefit Dottie's House will take place May 9 in Seaside Park. The event will also feature a One Mile Fun Run. Dottie's House provides housing, support and training for victims of domestic violence.

            The Brick Knights of Columbus Local No. 836 is sponsoring a trip to St. Jude's Shrine in Baltimore, Md., May 16. Participants will attend the noon Healing and Anointing Mass, tour the shrine, enjoy coffee and doughnuts and visit the gift shop.

      Boating safety course dates scheduled
            U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Division 16, will offer three test-out dates to obtain a state boating safety certificate, which is required to be in compliance with New Jersey State Marine law. All boaters who wish to operate a power vessel must possess a certificate by June 1.

            The Brick Township Recreation Department is accepting applications for summer employment for lifeguards for Brick Township's three ocean beaches. Lifeguards must be 16 or older and certified in CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), first aid, AED (automated external defibrillator) and oxygen.

      Parking permits, beach badges on sale
            The Brick Township Recreation Department has announced that season beach badges and season parking permits for summer 2009 are now on sale in the Brick Recreation Department. The price for season badges is $25 if purchased prior to June 15. After that date, the price increases to $30 for season badges.

      Pro wrestling event to benefit foundation
            The New Jersey Chapter of The Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America will benefit from a night of pro wrestling action to be held at the Brick Elks Lodge, 2491 Hooper Ave. at 7:35 p.m. May 2. The main event will feature Jersey Shore native John "Beach Balls" Mahoney. Also on the bill will be the Ocean County debut of the tag team the Nigerian Nightmares.

            Ocean County College, Toms River, is offering the following day trips. All ages are welcome. • A United Nations tour and lunch at the delegates dining room, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 16. A dress code is strictly enforced and does not permit jeans, shorts or sneakers. Gentlemen are required to wear jackets. Fee is $119.
