      St. Paul's will hold a rummage sale May 23
            The United Methodist Women of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 714 Herbertsville Road, Brick, will hold a rummage, white elephant and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 23. All clothing will be $4 per brown grocery bag. Lunch will be served and baked goods will be available for sale. Details: 732-458-2080.

      Parking permits, beach badges on sale
            The Brick Township Recreation Department has announced that season beach badges and season parking permits for summer 2009 are now on sale in the Brick Recreation Department. The price for season badges is $25 if purchased prior to June 15. After that date, the price increases to $30 for season badges.

      Armed Forces Day picnic slated
            Live music will be featured at an Armed Forces Day picnic and dance to be held 4-10 p.m. May 16 at the Point Pleasant Elks Lodge, 820 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach. Those bringing a donation to be part of a package being sent to Iraq, or those attending in any era military uniform may take $2 off the $12 admission. The fee is $6 for children 10 years and younger.

      Marching Mustangs will host golf outing
            The Brick Township Memorial High School Marching Mustangs will host its annual golf outing on June 6 at the Sea Oaks Country Club, 99 Golf View Drive, Little Egg Harbor. The cost is $150 per person and includes the golf cart, greens fees, range balls, barbecue and door prizes. Tee times begin at 1 p.m. To register, call Joe or Diane at 732-295-3499.

      Jersey Shore PFLAG will meet May 13
            Jersey Shore PFLAG will conduct its monthly support group 7-9 p.m. May 13 at the United Church of Christ of Toms River, 1681 Ridgeway Road (Route 571), Manchester. The meetings offer support, education and advocacy for people who have lesbians and gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people in their lives. The group is not affiliated with any religious organization.

            The Brick Garden Club is sponsoring a trip to the Morris Arboretum of The University of Pennsylvania on June 2. The trip includes a 1 1/2 hour docent tour and a gourmet sandwich lunch in a reserved tent area. The cost for the bus, admission and tour is $50.

            The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA), the environmental nonprofit, is celebrating its 20th birthday all year long and the public is invited to attend.             The Brick Township Recreation Department is accepting applications for summer employment for lifeguards for Brick Township's three ocean beaches. Lifeguards must be 16 or older and certified in CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation), first aid, AED (automated external defibrillator) and oxygen.

      'Paws 4 a Cause' will take place May 30
            The eighth annual 'Paws 4 a Cause" dog walk benefiting the homeless animals at the Jersey Shore Animal Center will be held from 1-4 p.m. May 30 at the Ocean County Park, Route 88, Lakewood. The rain date will be June 6. Water stations will be available for humans and canines along the trail. Pets must be licensed, have up-to-date vaccinations and be leashed at all times.

      Car show, garage sale seek participants
            The Brick Morning Rotary Club seeks participants for its third annual car show and garage sale sell-a-thon. Both events will be held June 20 at Brick High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. The fee for an 8-by-10 foot space at the sell-a-thon is $20. Participants must supply their own tables and no liability insurance is provided.

            Brick Township Memorial High School, 2001 Lanes Mill Road, will host a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30 in the school parking lot. Proceeds from the event will support a senior scholarship. The event is open to vendors, crafters, sales reps, clubs or anyone interested in having a yard sale.
