      School board in for rude awakening next year
            It was a sad day in Mudville (Brick Township) on May 14, when the Mighty Casey (coach Warren Wolf) struck out. On April 30, Coach Wolf attended the Brick Township Board of Education meeting and addressed them over the hiring of his replacement as head coach of the Brick Township High School football team. His comments fell on deaf ears. Strike one.

      Parrot Heads still looking for walkathon donations
            On May 9, a team of Coastal Jersey Parrot Heads (CJPHC) joined the Step Up Walkathon for the Arc of Ocean County in Pine Park, Lakewood. The Arc provides programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

      Soldier awaits fate for refusing to kill people in battle
            In a recent newspaper article it was reported that Pfc. Daniel Marble of Seaside Heights went Absent Without Leave (AWOL) after finishing basic training with the Army. His reasoning: "I am simply not capable of taking a life, I don't want to kill someone and live with that for the rest of my life.

            AMay 7 Brick Bulletin letter, "Reader predicts Democratic losses in November," included a great deal of innuendo about the Brick Democrats and an opinion that the current mayor and council of Brick deserve a slap on the back.

      Senate commended for passing Serve America Act
            On behalf of our 1.4 million members in the Garden State, AARP New Jersey applauds the Senate for passing the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act — a bill that will strengthen and expand civic engagement and volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. New Jerseyans should know that both Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez voted in favor of the bill.
