      Parking permits, beach badges on sale
            Season beach badges and season parking permits for summer 2009 are now on sale in the Brick Recreation Department. The price for season badges is $25 if purchased prior to June 15. After that, the price increases to $30 for season badges. The price for season parking is $30 for Brick residents and $40 for nonresidents. Children 12 and under are free.

      Town invited to OMC's birthday party
            Ocean Medical Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a "Community Day" on May 30 that will feature a variety of events and activities. The rain-or-shine event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on the hospital's front lawn and will run until 12 p.m.

      Free baby fair offered to expectant moms
            The Family Resource Network in partnership with Community Medical Center Saint- Barnabas Health Care System will host "Pregnant Pause 2009," a free baby event promoting alcohol- and smoke-free pregnancies for expectant mothers. The event will be held 5-8 p.m. June 11 at the Community Medical Center Auditorium, 99 Route 37, Toms River.

      Youth Orchestras to hold spring concert
            The Garden State Philharmonic Youth Orchestras will present its annual spring concert at 2 p.m. June 7 at the Toms River Intermediate East Auditorium, 1519 Hooper Ave., Toms River. The concert will feature students from Ocean and Monmouth counties in three performing groups: the String Ensemble, Concert Youth Orchestra and Symphonic Youth Orchestra.

      Vendors needed for H.S. flea market
            A flea market to raise money for a senior scholarship will be hosted by Brick Township Memorial High School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30 in the school's parking lot, 2001 Lanes Mill Road. Space is available for vendors, crafters, sales reps, clubs or anyone thinking of having a yard sale.

      Autoimmunity support group offered
            Autoimmunity support group meetings will be held in conference rooms A and B at the Ocean Medical Center, 425 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick, on June 28, July 26, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27. All meetings will have CART and certified interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing. Those attending are asked to bring a dish or refreshment to share.

            The Brick Garden Club is sponsoring a trip to the Morris Arboretum of The University of Pennsylvania on June 2. The trip includes a 1 1/2 hour docent tour and a gourmet sandwich lunch in a reserved tent area. The cost for the bus, admission and tour is $50.

      'Paws 4 a Cause' will take place May 30
            The eighth annual "Paws 4 a Cause" dog walk benefiting the homeless animals at the Jersey Shore Animal Center will be held from 1-4 p.m. May 30 at the Ocean County Park, Route 88, Lakewood. The rain date will be June 6. Water stations will be available for humans and canines along the trail. Pets must be licensed, have up-to-date vaccinations and be leashed at all times.

            All branches of the Ocean County Library will be closed June 5 for a staff in-service training event and will resume normal branch hours June 6.             The Brick Morning Rotary Club seeks participants for its third annual car show and garage sale sell-a-thon. Both events will be held June 20 at Brick High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. The fee for an 8-by-10 foot space at the sell-a-thon is $20. Participants must supply their own tables and no liability insurance is provided.

            The Laurelton Village Care Center will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 1-6 p.m. June 10 at 475 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick. The American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Region supplies blood to over 120 hospitals in New Jersey and five counties in southeastern Pennsylvania.
