Town invited to OMC's birthday party

Ocean Medical Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a "Community Day" on May 30 that will feature a variety of events and activities.

The rain-or-shine event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on the hospital's front lawn and will run until 12 p.m.

The program begins with a 5k run/walk with prizes for a variety of runner categories. A children's race will start at 9:30 a.m. and features medals for all participants.

The event also includes antique fire truck rides, trackless train rides, face painting, balloon art, food, games, pet therapy dogs, the Oceanaires Barbershop Chorus and a zumba demonstration.

Children will also be able to get a cast and check out ambulances, fire trucks and police cars.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department will provide child safety and senior safety identification. Health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, bone density and stroke risk assessments will also be provided.

The hospital is located at 425 Jack Martin Boulevard. For more information, call 732-840-2200, or go on line at www.meridianhealth. com.
