      Birthday celebration for Pinelands Alliance
            The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA), the environmental nonprofit, is celebrating its 20th birthday all year long and the public is invited to attend. PPA will take time this year to look back and build on its accomplishments over the last 20 years.       Police Department offers drug hotline
            The Brick Township Police Department provides a "Drug Hotline" for residents to report drug-related activity. The hotline was established as a means of providing the public with the opportunity to anonymously report drug activities in their neighborhood.

      Heart of Gold fundraiser to be held
            The Childhood Leukemia Foundation along with Earth Treasures Jewelers will host a Heart of Gold fundraiser 6-8 p.m. June 11 at 807 Mantoloking Road, Brick. Earth Treasures Jewelers will buy unwanted jewelry and donate a portion of the proceeds to the foundation. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. RSVP by June 7.       Benefit slated for Alzheimer's program
            A 30-mile motorcycle run and 5K walka thon to benefit the Alzheimer's Care Program of Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 6. The ride begins at the Vincent T. Lombardi Knights of Columbus, 872 Leonardville Road, in the Leonardo section of Middletown and ends at the Brick Township Reservoir, Herbertsville Road, Brick.

      BYC to hold summer dances, open gym
            The Brick Youth Club (BYC) will hold summer dances for middle school students 7-9:30 p.m. on June 12, June 26, July 17 and Aug. 14 at the Brick Township Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road. Prompt pickup is appreciated. Dances are open to middle school students only. Students currently in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades may attend through the Aug. 14 dance.

      Kayak race to be held at Windward Beach
            The Metedeconk River Run-Kayak Race will be held June 20 at Windward Beach, Brick. Check in for races will be from 8-9:30 a.m. and a safety briefing will be held at 9:40 a.m. In addition to last year's six-mile course, a 12-mile course, a family frenzy course, and a sit on top course will be offered. The entry fee for the six- and 12-mile course races is $45.

      Parking permits, beach badges on sale
            Season beach badges and season parking permits for summer 2009 are now on sale in the Brick Recreation Department. The price for season badges is $25 if purchased prior to June 15. After that, the price increases to $30 for season badges. The price for season parking is $30 for Brick residents and $40 for nonresidents. Children 12 and under are free.

      BYC announces spring movie schedule
            The Brick Municipal Alliance Committee's (B-MAC) Brick Youth Club (BYC) has announced its spring schedule of free movie nights. The BYC will show "Hotel for Dogs" on June 5, "Night at the Museum" on July 10 and "Jonas Brothers 3-D Concert Experience" on Aug. 7 at the Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road. The doors open for movies at 6:45 p.m. and movies begin at 7 p.m.
