Golf Classic raises over 70K On May 18 Dottie's House celebrated its 10th annual Golf Classic at Eagle Ridge Golf Club's newly expanded 27-hole championship golf course. The event, which brought out 105 golfers, raised over $70,000 for the facility, which provides long-term transitional housing and support services for women and children who have survived domestic violence. This year's major sponsors included New Jersey Natural Gas, Verizon, Costanza, Chambers Bridge Residence, Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer P.A., Chubb, Hazel Gluck and the OceanFirst Foundation. Carol Wolfe, executive director and founder of Dottie's House, thanked the host committee, co-chaired by Mark Wintjen and Hazel Gluck, and all of the sponsors, golfers, auction donors, dinner guests and volunteers. "As we mark our 10th year, I see many of the same faces who have attended this annual event since 1999, and would like to thank you for your continued support," said Mrs. Wolfe as she introduced two longtime supporters and special guests: National Hockey League veteran and 1995 Stanley Cup winner, Jim Dowd, and NBC meteorologist, Chris Cimino. All golfers received Bolle sunglasses in a case embroidered with the Dottie's House logo, a hand-rolled cigar, a steak lunch and a gourmet dinner. The evening also featured a live and silent auction consisting of exceptional items including autographed jerseys from MartinBrodeur of the New Jersey Devils and Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers, as well as an Eli Manning autographed football, a ride on the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield blimp, a Las Vegas trip for two for a Bette Midler performance and much more. |
