      Brewers take Brick Nat'l Cal Ripken playoffs
            Ayouth baseball team with 30 home runs usually prevails. But there was more to it than that for the Brewers in the Major Division for 10- to 12- year-olds and star power slugger Nick Zbranak: they led wire to wire and won the Brick National Cal Ripken Tournament playoffs as well.

            BRICK TOWNSHIP — Brick American's 11-year-olds became the first team in the league to advance to the Eastern Region when they won District 2 and finished second in the state. It was the team's first season playing in Cal Ripken after years of being chartered with Little League.

            Twin County Soccer of Brick will hold registration for its fall 2009 micro and rec soccer program. Registration starts at $65 for the spring and fall season. The single season fee is $55 and each additional sibling can register for an additional $35. Registration is open to girls and boys that will be 4 to 8 years old by Feb. 1, 2010.
