      Annual garden tour to be held July 14
            The Garden Club of Brick will host its seventh annual garden tour along with a "Tea in the Garden" at 3 p.m. July 14. Gardens grown from generation to generation, an original blueberry farm, a 200-year-old home and a vegetable garden planted by the children at Drum Point Elementary School are among the featured gardens this year.

      Birthday celebration for Pinelands Alliance
            The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA), the environmental nonprofit, is celebrating its 20th birthday all year long and the public is invited to attend. PPA will take time this year to look back and build on its accomplishments over the last 20 years.       Blood drive will be held July 21
            A blood drive will be conducted by Central Jersey Blood Center on the blood mobile from 5-8 p.m. July 21 at Ocean Medical Center, 425 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick. Qualified donors should be 17 years of age, weigh 120 pounds, and be in generally good health. Donors must present a photo ID with signature. All equipment is sterile, used only once and discarded.

      Brick Township police offer drug hotline
            The Brick Township Police Department provides a "Drug Hotline" for residents to report drug-related activity. The hotline was established as a means of providing the public with the opportunity to anonymously report drug activities in their neighborhood. It is answered and monitored by detectives assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit. Messages are checked on a daily basis.

      Dog washes to raise funds for shelter
            Help your dog beat the heat this summer when the Jersey Shore Animal Center, 185 Brick Blvd., Brick, hosts dog washes from noon to 3 p.m. July 25 and 26, and Aug. 29 and 30. Appointments are not needed. JSAC volunteers will do all the work.

            Forty-two new firefighters who completed an intensive training program of both classroomand hands-on instruction were feted during graduation ceremonies June 30 at the Ocean County Training Center, Waretown.
