      As the nation celebrated the 233rd anniversary of our independence on July 4, so too did our community celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening and dedication of Ocean Medical Center, formerly known as Brick Hospital. Starting as an idea in the '60s, the grass-roots effort gained momentum until its fruition on July 4, 1984.

Recycling confusion must be cleared up, reader says
      Months ago I read that our mayor wanted all of us to do more recycling. The more we recycle, the more we get in revenue for Brick. Our household had been concentrating on doing just that. But the person who picks up the recycling seems to be his own recycling center and picks through our recycling and puts back in the bucket what he thinks is not recyclable.
