Ocean team has high hopes for All-Star hockey game

      Erik Talty remembers two years ago when he was a sophomore at Brick Memorial playing in the annual Jim Dowd's Shoot For The Stars Foundation Shore All-Star hockey game between Monmouth and Ocean counties.

      Brick American's 12-year-old All-Star team took the first two games of the Cal Ripken Majors state tournament on its home field over the weekend, thanks to the timely hitting of Pete Papcun.

Brick Nat'l 11s, 9s headed to Cal Ripken state tourney
      Brick National's Cal Ripken 9-year-old All-Stars, coming off a United States Baseball League state championship recently, will look to add a Ripken state championship when it begins that quest on July 27. The game starts at 2 p.m. on Brick National's home field against District 6 champion Medford.

      Twin County Soccer of Brick will hold in-person registration for its micro and rec. soccer program 6-8 p.m. Aug 14 and 21 at the Twin County snack stand at the drum Point Sports Complex. Registration starts at $65 for the spring and fall seasons. The single season fee is $55 and each additional sibling can register for an additional $35.
