      Former inspector slams Brick's shared services pact
            Recently, in the July 16 Brick Bulletin, there was an article regarding "shared services" that make fiscal sense, if you listen to the mayor. Years ago, W.C. Fields said [to] believe nothing you read and only half of what you see. The mayor's statement would fall into both areas of this famous quote.

      Health coverage needed for residents, ages 50-64
            Our leaders are tackling health care reform for America in earnest and there are many points to consider. One of them should be expanding health care coverage for boomers. Fifty- to 64-year-olds need to be part of the reform equation.

      Near miss with bicyclist an unnerving experience
            I need to start somewhere about the serious problem of teens on bicycles in the evening. This evening, as it was lightly raining, we were going down Drum Point Road here in Brick. Out of nowhere shot a boy on a dark-colored bicycle wearing dark clothing, no reflectors and no helmet. He shot out right in front of us and headed toward the area of Alden Street/ Emberly Road.

      One suggestion for health care situation is cooperativism
            You go to a doctor's office with an illness, but you have no health insurance. The cost of health insurance is beyond your financial means. You decided not to go to the emergency room at a hospital where the government would pick up the tab.
