      Green Dragons felled by strong Ocean Twp. team
            Big scoring plays took their toll on Brick Township High School's football team on Sept. 17 when the BGreen Dragons dropped a 17-7 game to Ocean Township High School. So, the team has some areas they will look to iron out during practices this week for their next game, at 7 p.m. Sept. 25 at Middletown North High School.

            Another well-balanced running game, led by quarterback Mike DiGuilmi's two touchdown runs, and an improved defense catapulted Brick Memorial's football team to a 38-21 victory over Southern Regional High School in Stafford Township.

      Girls field hockey players feel the effects of missing players
            The Brick Memorial High School girls field hockey team has had more than its share of injuries early in the season. Six players have been affected either short or long term by injuries or illnesses, including three starters. And it has taken its toll on the team's 1-3 start.

            The Twin County Liberty girls U13 soccer team took first place in the Lacey Labor Day tournament beating the Lacey Storm 2-1, tying the TRSA Blaze 1-1 and beating the Colts Neck Crush 2-0, to place first and be named tournament champion.

            Joe Phillips and Matt Gerrity had long touchdown runs from about midfield in the first half, and three other players scored as the Brick Dragons Pee Wees beat the Brick Mustangs, 31-0, to win the Mayor's Trophy game and go to 4-0 in the Jersey Shore Pop Warner League.
