      Triathlon to benefit Dottie's House
            Friends of Dottie's House will hold its second annual triathlon 8:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at Island Beach State Park, Seaside Park. The event will also offer a duathlon for those that don't swim. Last year's triathlon sold out. This year the event will be limited to the first 350 registrants.

            The Brick Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Cultural Arts Center, Herbertsville Road, Brick. After a short business meeting outlining the club's upcoming trips and events, Master Gardener and Brick Garden Club member, Jeanne Lynch, will offer a presentation on enhancing garden design by using paths.

      Doll Club of Toms River to host show
            The Jersey Shore Doll Club of Toms River will hold its 21st annual Doll & Miniature Show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Toms River Elks Club, 600 Washington St. The show will feature dolls, accessories, miniatures, vintage toys and bears.             The Brick Township Rotary Club will hold a Las Vegas-style casino night at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the American Legion Hall, 2025 Church Road, Toms River. Tickets are $35 each. Proceeds will benefit local charities. Details: 732-262-3863.

      BTHS football to hold super bucks raffle
            The Brick Township High School (BTHS) football team is holding a "Super Bucks 50/50" cash raffle. Winner of the raffle will receive half of the proceeds. Only 200 tickets will be sold. The donation is $50 per ticket. The drawing will be held during halftime at the Oct. 16 BTHS football game. Winner need not be present.

      Halloween fundraiser slated for Oct. 10
            Eakfest, a haunted Halloween fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, will take place 5-10 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Pioneer Hose Fire House, 312 Drum Point Road, Brick. The admission fee will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and is requested to be a minimum of $5 per person. Children under age 3 will be admitted free.

            A beer and wine tasting event, hosted by the Laurelton Fire Company No. 1, will be held 5-11 p.m. Oct. 16 at the firehouse, located on the corner of Route 88 and Olden Road.       County artists light up library galleries
            The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington St., will host a lighthouse-themed group art show by the Ocean County Artists Guild during the month of October. The "Light Up Your Lighthouse!" exhibit will feature over 35 original artworks by Guild members, including numerous images of Ocean County's own Barnegat Lighthouse.

      Knights of Columbus host Radio City trip
            The Knights of Columbus Council 836, Brick, will host a trip to see the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in New York City Dec. 14. The cost of $142 per person includes deluxe bus transportation, first mezzanine reserved seats at Radio City Music Hall for an 11 a.m. matinee show, a voucher for a free beverage and popcorn, and dinner at Forlini's Restaurant.
