      BMHS triumphs in OT victory over Jackson
      Green Dragons pummeled by Toms River East, 37-7
            Vin Sabba again took the spotlight as Brick Memorial High School's football team stayed in the race in Shore Conference A South's American Division and in the running for a return to the NJSIAA playoffs as defending state champion, with a dramatic 21-14 overtime victory over Jackson Memorial High School on Oct. 2.

      Caruso takes his team's ups and downs in stride

      A busy Oct. for Midget and Pee Wee football
            While the Brick Dragons Midgets and Pee Wees continued in the hunt for a playoff berth in the Jersey Shore Junior Football League with victories last weekend, the Junior Pee Wee Green team bounced back from a tough loss the week before to stay in the running for the postseason.

      Brick runners gearing up cross country championships
            Two years ago, a young man named Andrew was the big runner for Brick Memorial High School's boys cross country team. Now another student named Andrew is leading the Mustangs. Andrew Goelz has run in the shadows of Andrew Brodeur, currently running for Duke University, and the upperclassmen on Brick Memorial's cross country team the past two years.

            A Challenger Soccer Shootout for special needs children ages 5-13 will be hosted by the New Jersey Elks Southeast District Special Children's Committee 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Drum Point Athletic Field on Drum Point Road and Brick Boulevard in Brick. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All children taking part will receive a Tshirt.
