      Butterfly Charities slates autumn event
            The Butterfly Charities, 570 Mantoloking Road, Brick, will hold an autumn harvest celebration 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at 570 Mantoloking Road, Brick. The festivities will include free pumpkins, pizza, bagels, doughnuts, Frisbees, face painting and DJ entertainment.

      Halloween event slated for Oct. 28
            A Halloween Spooktacular, hosted by the Brick Township Department of Parks and Recreation, will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Drum Point Sports Complex, Drum Point Road, Brick. The festivities will include a costume parade, a pumpkin patch, hot dogs, snacks, hot chocolate, trophies for best costumes and decorated cars, and a trunk or treat.

      PTA will host Field Yard Sale Nov. 14
            The Herbertsville PTA will host its first Field Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 in the field behind the school at 2282 Lanes Mill Road. A rain date has been set for Nov. 15. A $15 fee will reserve a lawn space that is 12 feet by 12 feet. Only the first 65 vendors will be accepted.

      Special pets sought for Hall of Fame
            Nominations are now open for the 15th annual Animal Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place Feb. 28 during a public awards luncheon at the Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park. For 14 years New Jersey's veterinarians have been honoring special animals that make an indelible impact on the lives of the people around them.

      Tales of Pine Barrens will be discussed
            The Brick Township Historical Society will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Herbertsville Firehouse, 601 Herbertsville Road, Brick. Karen Riley of New Egypt, author of the book "Voices in the Pines," will relate true tales of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, an area known for its storytelling legacy. The public is welcome to attend.

      Murder-mystery event will help save animals
            "Deadly Housewives," a murder-mystery dinner, will be performed at noon and at 5 p.m. Oct. 25 at Charlie Brown's Restaurant, Route 70, Lakewood.             The 10th annual Bay Head Dog Walk, sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Mary Holder, will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at 520 Main Ave., Bay Head.
