Unions throw support to Kavanagh for mayor As a union representative, I am always looking out for what is best for my membership, but as a Brick resident, I'm always looking out for what's best for our community. I believe Greg Kavanagh is just what this community needs and would make an outstanding mayor. He is not just another smooth-talking politician. He is in touch with the community. He values our opinions. He sees the struggling working families. He has seen workers lose their jobs and listens to Brick residents and their concerns. Greg treats people with respect. He's a resident for over 44 years and has seen all the changes here in Brick. Greg wants to keep the services and the quality of services that residents here expect and deserve. He understands privatizing and outsourcing services never works in the long run. The New Jersey A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the Monmouth and Ocean Counties Central Labor Council have all endorsed Greg Kavanagh because they know he cares about our working-class citizens, and he will help all the families in Brick. With Greg, all working folks here in Brick will be better off. He supports the Employee Free Choice Act — legislation that helps workers bargain collectively for a better life, for better wages and benefits, for safe and better work conditions, to give workers a collective voice on the job and to be treated fairly and with respect. President Obama has said labor unions help build a strong economy and are a big part of the solution to help rebuild the middle class in the United States. Greg will be an advocate for all working people here in Brick. In today's economy, we continue to see attacks on workers' rights and job protections. Without unions, employers can fire workers without good reason, and the employee has no recourse. To retain and secure more good jobs, we need to continue to grow and support the labor movement. So please help us pass the Employee Free Choice Act and remember to support the Kavanagh team for a better Brick Township. John T.
