100th anniversary gives retailer P.C. Richard reason to celebrate

      In a year of economic turmoil that has taken a toll on many businesses throughout the United States, one company found reason to celebrate. P.C. Richard and Son, an appliance and electronics retailer with 2,800 employees and stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, is marking its 100th anniversary this year.

      Elks Foundation to award 500 scholarships In an effort to alleviate the financial burden of escalating college costs, the Elks Foundation has launched a Most Valuable Student Scholarship contest. This year, the Elks will award $2.296 million to 500 students. Awards to the 18 top winners will range from $8,000 to $60,000 over four years.
