BTHS boys soccer team still alive for state tourney play

      The Brick Township High School boys soccer team has a berth in the upcoming state tournament, thanks to an NJSIAA rule change. Unlike past seasons, when teams had to have records of .500 or better to qualify, there must be 16 teams in each bracket, regardless of record for the final qualifiers.

Brick's Winters leaves a football legacy at Fairleigh Dickinson

      When Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Park quarterback Bill Winters takes the field on Nov. 7 for his final home game against King's College, it will be an emotional one. "Yeah, it'll be emotional, because it's Senior Day," said the former Brick Township High School standout, who will graduate in 2010 with a degree in finance and economics.

Sports Shorts
      The sailing team at Ocean County College (OCC) won the Nittany Lion Open, hosted by Penn State University. The OCC sailors won the A division and the B division of the regatta, the first time this year OCC has won both divisions. Tyler Kennedy of Pine Beach and Autumn Hoover of Lanoka Harbor sailed in the A division.
