      Brick Youth Club slates dances, open gym time for rest of 2009
            The Brick Youth Club (BYC) has announced the following upcoming dances for the remainder of 2009, with more to follow throughout the winter. Remaining dance dates will be Nov. 30, Dec. 4 and 18. All dances are scheduled from 7-9:30 p.m. Reservations for dances will be taken from the Monday prior to the event through Thursday night by calling 732-262-1074.

      'It's a Wonderful Life' slated Nov. 20-22
            The Brick Memorial High School Drama Club will perform "It's a Wonderful Life," Nov. 20-22 at the Brick Memorial High School auditorium, 2001 Lanes Mill Road. Performance times will be 7:30 Nov. 20 and 21, and 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

      Historical Society will host Christmas event
            The Brick Township Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas celebration 6-9 p.m. Dec. 11, and noon-4 p.m. Dec. 13 at its Havens Homestead Museum, 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick. "It's a Cranberry Christmas" will be this year's theme. The homestead will be decorated with a variety of cranberry-colored items.

            The First Baptist Church of Laurelton, 1836 Route 88, Brick, will serve a soup kitchen on the last Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All are welcome. There is no charge.

      Dinner & movie for seniors slated Nov. 20
            Brick Township residents age 60 and over are invited to an evening of a dinner and a movie at 4 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Brick Township Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road. The evening will begin with a spaghetti dinner and will be followed by the 1948 movie "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

            The Sisterhood of Temple Beth Or is collecting kosher and non-kosher canned goods for Kol Nidre. Items can be brought to the temple at 200 Van Zile Road and will be distributed to local food pantries in Brick. Details: 732-458-4700.

            The Community First Aid Ladies Auxiliary will host a pasta dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at 406 Mantoloking Road, Brick.             Nominations are now open for the 15th annual Animal Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place Feb. 28 during a public awards luncheon at the Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park.
