      Pioneer Hose Co. No. 1 slates food drive
            Pioneer Hose Co. No. 1, located at 312 Drum Point Road, will hold a food drive Nov. 28-Dec. 13. All nonperishable items can be dropped off by the Christmas tree sales area 6-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. All donations will help the local families in need for the holiday season.

      Old Guard will host dance Nov. 29
            The Old Guard of the Point Pleasant- Brick Area will host its next dance 1-4 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Old Guard building, 170 Duchess Lane, Brick. It will feature three hours of music by Wes Peters and the Old Guard, a 15- piece orchestra. The price of $8 includes cake, coffee and tea. Hot dogs and soda will be sold.

            The Friends of Dottie's House will host a holiday cocktail party 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at The Brielle River House, 1 Ocean Ave., Brielle. The cocktail party will include a buffet dinner, open bar and a silent auction. Tickets are $100 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

      Knights of Columbus host Radio City trip
            The Knights of Columbus Council 836, Brick, will host a trip to see the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in New York City Dec. 14. The cost of $142 per person includes deluxe bus transportation, first mezzanine reserved seats at Radio City Music Hall for an 11 a.m. matinee show, a voucher for a free beverage and popcorn, and dinner at Forlini's Restaurant.

            Church of the Visitation, 755 Mantoloking Road, Brick, will be offering its community lunch at noon in the church auditorium on the third Wednesday of every month. All are welcome. There is no charge.

      Ocean Medical Center plans tree lighting
            The Ocean Medical Center will hold its annual holiday tree lighting 5 p.m. Dec. 13 in front of the hospital at 425 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick, and then move indoors to the atrium lobby. All community members are invited to attend. There will be entertainment by the Brick Memorial High School Chorale and refreshments will be provided.

      'It's a Wonderful Life' slated Nov. 20-22
            The Brick Memorial High School Drama Club will perform "It's a Wonderful Life," Nov. 20-22 at the Brick Memorial High School auditorium, 2001 Lanes Mill Road. Performance times will be 7:30 Nov. 20 and 21, and 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

      Homebound can now enjoy library services
            Homebound Ocean County residents can borrow from the rich collection of the Ocean County Library and have those materials delivered to their home free of charge through the library's Home Borrowers Service. The service is available to Ocean County residents who are permanently or temporarily disabled or who lack transportation. A medical note is not required.

      Historical Society will host Christmas event
            The Brick Township Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas celebration 6-9 p.m. Dec. 11, and noon-4 p.m. Dec. 13 at its Havens Homestead Museum, 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick. "It's a Cranberry Christmas" will be this year's theme. The homestead will be decorated with a variety of cranberry-colored items.

            The Brick Township Municipal Alliance Committee (B-MAC) will host a showing of the movie "Santa Buddies" 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Civic Plaza, Chambers Bridge Road. Admission to the movie is free and B-MAC is encouraging people that are planning to attend to bring needed items for the Jersey Shore Animal Center.

      Parade Committee to host NYC trip Dec. 6
            The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee is hosting a trip to Rockefeller Center in New York City Dec. 6. The bus will depart the Barnegat Municipal complex at 9:15 a.m. and Brick Plaza at 10 a.m. The per person fee of $27.50 includes the bus ride, free time in New York City for viewing the Christmas tree, shopping and sightseeing.

            Nominations are now open for the 15th annual Animal Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place Feb. 28 during a public awards luncheon at the Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park. For 14 years New Jersey's veterinarians have been honoring special animals that make an indelible impact on the lives of the people around them.

            The Ocean County Retired Educators Association is sponsoring an all-inclusive trip to see the Sight & Sound Production of the "Miracle of Christmas" in Lancaster, Pa., Dec. 8.             The Brick Youth Club (BYC) has announced the following upcoming dances for the remainder of 2009, with more to follow throughout the winter. Remaining dance dates will be Nov. 30, Dec. 4 and 18.       Annual winter craft fair slated for Dec. 12
            The Brick Marching Dragon Caravan annual winter craft fair will held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 12 at Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. A wide variety of crafts will be sold, including handmade jewelry, painted glass, wooden items, clothes, art and food. There will also be a silent auction of gift baskets and vendor items.       'Nutcracker in the Sky' to be performed
            The Bay Head School of Ballet & Violin, Bay Head, will host its "Nutcracker in the Sky" 7-8 p.m. Dec. 4 as part of the Bay Head Christmas walk. Students ranging in age from 5 to 16 will perform scenes from the ballet in an expanse of picture windows on the second floor.
