      BCCT will hold auditions Jan. 23
            Brick Children’s Community Theatre (BCCT), a nonprofit community theater group dedicated to the children of Ocean and Monmouth counties, will hold auditions for its spring show Jan. 23 at the Brick Town Civic Center, Chambers Bridge Road, Brick. Audition times are 2:15 p.m. for ages 4-6, 3:30 p.m. for ages 7-11, and 5 p.m. for ages 12 and older. Show dates are April 16- 17.

      Baseball club slates used clothing drive
            A used clothing drive to benefit the Brick Memorial Baseball program will be held 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Jan. 9. Collections of clothing, shoes, hand bags, accessories, linens, backpacks, toys and games, baby strollers, cribs, etc., can be dropped off at the Brick Memorial High School gold cafeteria, located at 2001 Lanes Mill Road.

      Holiday party, auction rescheduled
            Due to the recent snowstorm, the Sierra Club of Ocean County has rescheduled its annual holiday party and silent auction fundraiser to 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Skywalk CafĂ©, 129 Hooper Ave., Toms River.

      Friends of the Brick Library set fundraiser
            The Friends of the Brick Library will hold a fundraiser at Barnes & Noble, 44 Brick Plaza, on Jan. 18. Purchases made while presenting a special voucher at any Barnes & Noble location on that day will benefit the Friends of the Brick Library.

      Middle School slates scrapbook fundraiser
            A scrapbooking fundraiser will be held at the Veterans Memorial Middle School, Hendrickson Ave., Brick, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 30. Proceeds will benefit the eighth-grade class and PTA programs.

      H1N1 vaccination clinics offered in January
            The Ocean County Health Department, located at 175 Sunset Ave., Toms River, will offer injectable and intranasal H1N1 vaccines to Ocean County residents Mondays from 1-3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1-11 a.m. throughout the month of January.

      Historical Society to meet, host speaker
            The Brick Township Historical Society will hold its next meeting 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Herbertsville Firehouse, 601 Herbertsville Road. Dan Lieb of the Squan Beach Life Saving Station will present a program on the history of the U.S. Lifesaving Service, which was the forerunner of the U.S. Coast Guard Service. The public is welcome to attend.

      Parents can join children at Bounce U
            The Ocean County Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct a new program at Bounce U, 1920 Swarthmore Ave., Lakewood. Parents will be able to join their child on the slide, bouncers, boxing ring and more. Children must be at least 34 inches tall to participate. The fee is $8 per child, ages 3 to 6 years.

      Volunteers needed for local hospice patients
            Holy Redeemer Hospice seeks volunteers to provide comfort to hospice patients and their families. Volunteers will visit homes and nursing homes throughout Ocean County. Volunteers are needed in the evenings, weekends and especially during the day. Training will be provided.

      Free job training offered to businesses
            Ocean County College, Toms River, will offer free classes for New Jersey businesses and organizations that are able to provide 10 or more employees to complete a program. Preapproved course options include English as a second language, PC skills, Excel, Outlook, basic communications and basic math.
